How to Salvage Your Focus and Motivation (As Well as Your Day)

What to do on the days when you don’t want to do anything

How motivated are you feeling these days?

As we tentatively step back into “normal” life, there will be days where your focus and motivation aren’t really what they could be (which is a surprise to no one.) This is incredibly frustrating, especially if you need to be taking care of things but are finding it very difficult to get started.

I’ll admit there are definitely days where I am struggling to find my focus and motivation right now. My struggle eats into and drains my energy levels, so doing things like sitting down to write just doesn’t sound like fun.

I know if I could just pull things together, I could get something out of my day. Maybe I won’t hit the word count I was shooting for, but I can still get in some writing (which means the day wasn’t a complete waste.)

I’m not blaming Covid. Days like this happened well before the pandemic changed our world. So I have Salvage-The-Day plans I can call on when lack-of-motivation days occur.

These plans aren’t one-size-fits-all plans that I use for every unfocused situation. Different situations call for different plans, so it’s helpful to have options to chose from…
