How to stop wasting your energy on unimportant decision making

Let chance dictate your choices

Last week I was overly ambitious with my to-do list. Even though I’m usually conscious of my available time and energy, there were a few days where I overloaded my list with tasks.

And let’s be honest here, some of those tasks had no right to be on the list in the first place. But there they were.

After knocking off a couple of my “very-much-have-to-do tasks,” I hit a lull where I still needed to move forward, but all of the small tasks on the to-do list had the same sort of low priority.

None of them jumped out at me as needing to be done.

But there they were. On the list.

Giving me the perfect opportunity to do absolutely none of them.

I know I’m not the only one who has responded with a slide into social media, a quick click of the television remote, or a jump into the deep end of a good book when confronted with this type of situation. It’s an almost irresistible opportunity for procrastination to occur.

I needed an easy way to get started that completely removed me and my procrastinating brain from the decision-making process. What I needed was to literally roll the dice and let chance dictate my choices.
